About the Strategy Guide

Postby Daniel » Wed Mar 10, 2010 2:18 pm

For the release of Curse of the Immortals, we have written a Strategy Guide. It's an optional extra for those who want it. We will still be answering questions on the forum but for anybody who wants a complete and detailed guide, this is it. :)

The guide is 133 pages in pdf format. Here's what you'll find inside:

A basic guide to the game
A complete walkthrough from the first room to the last boss battle
    Guides for every side quest
Solutions for every puzzle with images and written instructions
    Photo and Dragon Egg locations
Tables for Weapons, Runes, Trinkets, Skills and Pets
Boss strategies plus hard mode tips for every boss
Labeled maps of the main areas

The price is $4.95. There's a sample available at http://cdn.johnwizard.com/COTI-Guide-Sample.pdf and if you would like to purchase the complete guide you can do that here.

I still think that it was a great idea to release a strategy guide with your game! I know that Aveyond has started, in the last 2 to 3 games, releasing a strategy guide at the same time as the game (though on BigFish) and people usually buy it and use it. I think it's a savvy business idea and can really be helpful to those who might need it in order to find that last egg or ruin. Also, you know, while I've never written a strategy guide (or designed a game, for that matter), I've admired the difficulty in trying to create a good strategy guide that is easy to use and offers valuable info (I've used a lot of bad ones). It seems like it can be a complicated process, maybe sometimes as difficult as designing the game, maybe in a different way ;)

Love the game so far!! As usual, I got caught up in the game and didn't realize that I had been playing for so long, which for me, normally is a good thing. However, I was playing the demo, which is supposed to only last for one hour, but i played for over three. I would really hate for all of your hard work to be given away freely if that was not your intention. I noticed in an earlier post that you were working to fix this problem, I hope you can fix it soon.
I've purchased the game and the strategy guide, and I am amazed by both. I especially love the new battle menu and the graphics in the game. The guide is one of the most well-written and comprehensive that I've had the pleasure to use. Kudos! I'm a fan for life!!! :D
Domo arigate, Debo! I will be eternally grateful!!!

The problem with the demo not closing after one hour is fixed for anybody who downloads the game now. :)

I'm very happy to hear that you like the guide. :D

Cennaflii hit the nail on the head. The Strategy Guide is awesome with its detailed descriptions and definitions, maps, pics and just the general layout. I'm able to locate the help I need without too much trouble, unlike some actual reference manuals  Thanks again for all your hard work.
