Naming Project Viper
Posted by DanielProject Viper is coming along nicely. All of the new systems (text,menus,battle,mouse) are starting to take shape. The dungeons are almost done and the story and quests are pretty much done. There is one thing we really to do … think of a name!
I always find it hard to name my projects. Dawn’s Light was named only a week or so before we start beta testing. The website was completely finished before we had the ‘John Wizard’ name. I was ready to upload it but I needed to create the new domain on the server before I could.
I never understood how people can name their projects so early in development. I always see: “We’ve just started a new game and it’s called … “.
Names always sound so weird when you first hear them. ‘John Wizard’ sounded so weird as the name of a website but now I love the name. It definitely different.
Don’t even get me start on naming characters. Harvey had about 26 different names while we were making Dawn’s Light. Most of the other characters didn’t get their names until the end.
I can force myself to do most of the tough jobs but naming is the thing on which I procrastinate the most.
Hmm, I already got used to and started loving the name “Viper”. I hope you won’t just throw it away: name one NPC as Viper at least
Using ‘Viper’ for a character name is a good idea. It’s one less name I need to think of.
Yeah I also like the name Viper! But it probably has nothing to do with the story of the game whatsoever? By the way, I have to admit… I never quite understood why Dawn’s Light was called Dawn’s Light…? (hangs head in shame) Maybe you can wait with naming the game officially and see what your beta testers think
Oh and I seriously love the name John Wizard. It really IS different. AND it has the added bonus that you could make him into a cute, purple robed character whose hat is too big for his boat
hi, i think that the good and unusual names would be like Victor, Monsoon, Breony, and viper. and as for the game name i think project viper would be the best!
We had a Victor in Dawn’s Light and we’ve got a Viper in this new game so I agree with you on those ones already. Monsoon and Breony are pretty cool and unusual names and we might have to use those some time.
