Boring Work

Posted by Daniel

Finally! I’ve been writing quest descriptions all day and they are finally done! So I can tell you that there are 149 “tasks” in Lilly and Sasha. Some are long, some are short and there are other things that don’t have associated tasks.

Doing jobs like this is very boring but it does feel like I’m getting a lot done. When I’m designing puzzles for example, I might come up with something good or I might just end up with nothing. At least with boring jobs you always get a sense of accomplishment.

It feels good to be working on these kind of jobs because it means the game isn’t too far from completion. On the other hand this is when you start to get a little nervous about the release. Will people love it? Will they hate it? Will they say that we just made an easy game to get good reviews? We’ll probably get a bit of each.

My sore experience since graduating university a couple of months ago: There is no bloody way to please everyone! Just stand up for your work and be proud of it. And for unconstructive criticism: Go to hell! You put so much time and love and time and patience and time and effort into this chef-d’Ĺ“uvre, so there is no plausible cause to not be proud of it and market Viper as such! There will be enough people to appreciate it. So keep up the boring work :-)

PS: I am currently replaying parts of DL and Aveyond (sorry for having a bit on the side ;-) ) and stumbled across an idea that might be great but perhaps too late for you guys to change anything: Is there any way to change the lead character of the group? I mean I am a girl and like to have therefore a female lead on land. And especially with this costume-feature of DL it would have been great to see not only Harvey in his new costumes. I could be wrong though because it sometimes happened that my character changed into one of the others, but I am not sure if it was a bug because I didn’t do anything intentionally. Okay, have a nice one!

Already in the game! :) I finished the menu screen for it yesterday.

Daniel and Andrew can hardly wait for Viper to come out have been following the blog and also replay both the other games. your blogs make this game sound so good even my better half {husband} who never played rpg’s till DL Xmas came around and then DL which he has played about 6 times now is planning on playing Viper. I know it will be great and also that you keep them coming I will be a steady customer I know as I love these type games. I quit other systems because all they have now are sports games which at age 69 i don’t like I get my sports from TV watching.

I’d just like to say I loved Dawn’s Light, and I’m looking forward to this next creation. It’s interesting seeing what’s going into this game on the blog.

I’ve been looking around, but is there any sort of tentative release date?

Lilly and Sasha will be out by the end of February. We’re looking to start beta testing very soon.

1 month… 1 whole month… T”T well, for optimistic view, “just 1 month more”, heh
Though I understand it cant be help – that’s to get it better but I cant stop babbling lol

Tell me about it! That’s how I feel too. The game seems so close to being finished but it’s still so far away.

We want to do very thorough testing and the goal is to release a completely bug free and very polished game.

  8. Obob says:

Sounds great, that’s not bad at all!

And yes, releasing a polished product is definitely the way to go.

wohoooo! just one more month, I’ve got to inform my friends that from March on I am going to be quite absent (mentally and physically) while diving into the new game. great news!

oh, and love to see the new feature (changing the lead), are there going to be again these funny costumes? I just love seeing Harvey running around as a little cow-man :-) too cute.

  11. wow February? this is very exciting! You can count on my purchase. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a classic from what I’ve seen.

Honestly you’re the one who’s inspiring me now :)
